Quarterly Leadership Newsletter: January 2023

Go Bills!  C&FS EAP is celebrating the Bills playoff run with you!  Pictured to the left are some of the C&FS EAP staff in their finest Bills attire.

We are continually updating programs to support the modern workplace. In this edition you will find resources and supports specifically designed for you, organizational leaders. If you have any questions or need more information, reach out and talk with C&FS EAP staff today, 716-681-4300.

Over the past year the Buffalo community has experienced significant challenge.  The racially motivated mass shooting on 5/14 was horrific, and this community continues to address the divisions and hate that perpetuate.  The tragedies that occurred after the blizzard, including the loss of life, have taken a serious toll on organizations across WNY.  C&FS EAP is always exploring new ways to support, including offering stress screenings and other programming to offer easy access to information and services.  This year we will continue our efforts to be a resource.

We would like to begin by inviting you, the organization leaders, to a conversation about maximizing the impact of the EAP benefit.  This benefit can only be effective if members are aware and have trust in the confidentiality of the services.  Join:

Best Practices for Promoting EAP and Increasing Utilization

Thursday February 9th at 12-12:30pm

Join us for a 30-minute conversation about how to increase utilization with your employees. Our director, Megan Andrews, will lead a conversation about what organizations have found to be the most helpful at encouraging employees to engage with EAP. Plus, this is your opportunity to ask questions and share what has worked for your organization.

This presentation is ideal for those tasked with sharing information about EAP with their employees.

Black History Month Panel Discussion

February is also Black History Month, and C&FS EAP is looking ahead, partnering with the C&FS Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Yvonne DuBois to present a discussion panel on what Black Resistance looks like from different systems perspectives (community, education, health & mental health, media).  This is scheduled for February 22nd at 12noon. Be on the lookout for more details and registration information in the February EAP Events email.

C&FS EAP’s Response to the Blizzard of 2022

C&FS EAP is always here to support you and your employees. No matter what struggle someone in our community is facing, we are available 24/7 to provide in moment support. In addition to our regular services, we offered a stress screening event this month to provide additional support and resources. We also modified our Winter Wellness Challenge and instead encouraged everyone to take care of themselves and those around them with a conversation on resiliency that we called “Managing the Stress of the Storm”.

Self-Care During Stressful Times

This live presentation back in December was presented by Jennifer Schultz, LMSW, EAP Supervisor of Clinical Services.  Here she offered members an opportunity to explore how the body reacts to stress and how to take care of yourself so you can be your best at work and home!
